WORLD THROUGH
MY EYES
Lidia Rauramo
Artist and education professional
“Man shall not live by bread alone” (Matthew 4:4).
We can also live by beauty and art. For me, painting requires thought, inner tension, and at times, even pain—sometimes despair, hopelessness, and a lack of confidence in my ability to improve the world. However, all these emotions transform into beauty on the canvas, and hope for a better world returns.
In my day-to-day role, I am an educator in self-leadership, design thinking, creativity, sustainable entrepreneurship, and well-being at Aalto University. Additionally, I work as an executive leadership coach and write on self-leadership topics. However, a significant and long-standing aspect of my identity lies in the arts.

I am drawn to Impressionism as an artistic style, appreciating its ability to convey ideas and recognizable forms. Over the course of my artistic journey, I've explored various periods, initially focusing on urban landscapes and gradually transitioning towards nature. My works include symbolic paintings like the Phoenix bird, representing my personal resurrection, and the Minotaur, symbolizing the unseen power within individuals.

My artistic journey commenced at six years old at the Art School Alexandrino in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This comprehensive artistic education covered drawing, sketching, composition, still-life techniques, watercolors, gouache, chalk, and art history. I had the privilege of apprenticing under Andrey Nedostup, a renowned artist in Saint Petersburg and a member of the Russian Artists Union, and Arnold Lolaev, also a member of the Russian Artists Union. I was a member of the International Art Fund from 2014 to 2017, participating in two exhibitions alongside Arnold Lolaev (Moscow, 2012, 2015).

I am also a member of the Helsinki International Artist Association.

Ravintola Tila,
Knutersintie 262, Sipoo

Next up, I’ll be exhibiting at Ravintola Tila in Sipoo National Park. This exhibition will celebrate the power and beauty of nature, with a special focus on Finnish landscapes —a perfect match for Tila’s stunning setting in the heart of the park.
PAST EXHIBITIONS
31.8. - 30.09.2024
Helsinki
Tenho Restobar, Helsinginkatu 15

Fight, Flight, Or Freeze

From September 1 to 30, 2024, I held my exhibition at Tenho Resto Bar in Kallio, Helsinki. The grand opening was a special evening where I collaborated with my colleague and friend, Tommi Kauppinen, Head of Aalto Online Learning, who introduced his new book, Human. I showcased some of my most emotional paintings, exploring various states of being human—many deeply personal. The bar’s cozy, dim lighting and the lively buzz of people sharing their own stories created the perfect atmosphere for me to share mine through art.
